Grading and Membership
Southport Muto Aikido Club awards coloured belts to Kyu (lower grade) students as a recognition of the grade that they have attained. This recognises their achievement and assists their safety as other aikidoka are able to apply their techniques proportionately.
Some organisations only wear white belts below the grade of 1st Dan (black belt).

6th kyu (White belt)

Students are asked to take out membership with our association after three weeks of training. Membership provides insurance and allows students to attend courses held by other associations and has to be renewed annually.
